What 166 residents told us: final survey results
Published October 9, 2026
Today I wanted to share the results of my resident survey. Knowing everyone had the time to do their reading homework on yesterday’s AI post (lol), this one is purposely shorter.
From September 17 to 29, 166 of you answered an anonymous survey about Town services and priorities. Thank you. I read every answer.
Three priorities came out on top, in this order:
1. The Town’s finances and taxes. 76% picked Town finances and debt, property taxes, or both in their top three.
2. Roads. 64% picked roads, the single most-chosen issue. It was also the top answer when asked what council should fix first.
3. Property crime. 36%, mostly about theft and wanting more police presence at night.
Issues that matter most (up to three each)
Share of respondents who picked each issue.
Two other numbers stood out. 75% are dissatisfied with how transparent the Town is about its finances, and only 5% are satisfied. And 57% said the Town should keep what we have in good repair before adding anything new.
This wasn’t a random sample, and most respondents were homeowners over 40, so read it as what engaged residents are saying rather than a precise measure of the whole town.
Last week, I shared the results with the other candidates for mayor and council (not the school board trustee candidates, since the survey was about Town services). Whoever is elected on October 26 will be dealing with these same priorities.
